Pacific Days, Free Fun

July 13, 14, 15, 2012

Pacific Partnerships is proud to once again present its Pacific Days - the annual event that always includes lots of family fun - held in the City's beautiful Pacific City Park.

Fun Stuff to Do
Throughout the weekend, Pacific Days provides both kids and adults all sorts of fun activities like the ever-popular kids’ games with, of course, the kids’ prize store where everything in the store was FREE. There is also a car bash for adults and supervised kids, the big, free inflatable slides and other fun stuff. As always, there will be lots of raffle items of all sorts. Lots of fun and surprises. Then there was also food and arts and crafts vendors who make the whole event worthwhile!

Kids Parade
The Kids Parade is where all kids were encouraged to bring their decorated bikes, trikes, or wagons or just themselves in costume to the staging area, the Pacific Algona Community Center parking lot
, 100 B - 3rd Ave SE, at 6:00 pm. All participants have to wear a helmet, however, if a helmet is not available, one will be provided, free of charge, while supplies lasted. The parade starts at 6:15 pm and all participants travel from the Community Center parking lot, down 3rd Ave to the Pacific City Park where the best decorated (original, creative, etc.) entry receives an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen as the grand prize. There will also be ice cream cones and Dairy Queen coupons for everyone.

City of Pacific Youth Ambassador Program
Pacific Partnerships’ new City of Pacific Youth Ambassador Program is designed to help a young man or woman entering grades 7-9 be a better leader as well as a responsible individual.

The first ever City of Pacific Youth Ambassador will be announced at Pacific Days on Friday, July 13 after the Kids Parade at approximately 7 pm on stage at Pacific City Park.

Each applicant must submit an essay describing their accomplishments, goals, etc., along with the reason for applying. The selected candidate will commit to a year-long community service project of their own choosing that benefits the local community.

This year’s winning candidate will receive a $200 Savings Bond from the Pacific Partnerships.

Download a Youth Ambassador application for more information. If you have further questions, please contact Jessamyn the program coordinator at (253) 804-0367.

Pacific Days Grand Parade
With lawn chairs lined up along 3
rd Ave from Frontage to Pacific City Park, everyone will be read to watch the Pacific Days 2012 Parade on Saturday, July 14. The Parade starts at 10 am and is always a huge success. Be sure to check out the Pacific Days 2011 Parade pics.

Music and Entertainment
There is always live onstage music and entertainment both
Saturday and Sunday including Sunday's nondenominational morning worship service by Pacific Community Church.

Pacific Days behind the scenes...

Pacific Days is geared to raise public awareness of not only Pacific Partnerships and the programs and events we support but raise public awareness of other community businesses and nonprofit organizations and the services they provide the community, sometimes free of charge.

Pacific Days also strives to improve the health of the community, especially children, with the Kids’ Parade, carnival games, and the huge inflatables that are always free for all children from very young to teenage years.
