2008 Pacific Days
July 11, 12, 13, 2008
The Pacific Partnerships is proud to present Pacific Days 2008!
This year you will be finding a much wider variety of things to see and do
in the way of events for kids and adults alike. There will be lots of free
games, big inflatables for kids big and small, raffle drawings, dance
workshops, Saturday night dance, Car
show, learning activities for the whole family, and lots of vendors.
Below is a list of what is lined up for entertainment at this year’s event.
Some of it is marked pending simply because we are waiting for the vendor to
be finalized. As things become confirmed, the website will be updated to
include a time for each event taking place each day.
If
you can help with this year’s Pacific Days, please come to a Pacific
Partnerships Committee meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in
Senior Center next to the Pacific City Hall to find out more.
Ever and
Wonder Just What is Involved in Putting Together Pacific’s Annual Community
Celebration?
It takes about 12 hard
working and dedicated volunteers who meet on a regular basis starting in
January to put together the event.
Expenses are always great,
however, through generous donations from local businesses as well as
community support, the following expenses were met for Pacific Days 2007:
Games and prizes $300
Inflatable rides $1500
Portable restrooms $250
Saturday night dance $800
Sound system $600
Advertising $500
Signage $10,000
Local businesses also donate
or discount their services as illustrated by the prizes for raffles at last
year’s event and the cars used in the ever popular car bash event.
You can help too! Volunteers
are always needed. What a great opportunity for High School students to earn
needed community service hours. Simply join us at our monthly meeting held
the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Pacific Algona Community
Center next to City Hall to share some of your ideas and your time.

·
Volunteers – We are looking for individuals (16 years and older) who can
volunteer for a 2-hour block of time on either Saturday, July 14, or Sunday,
July 15, to assist with some of the fun events scheduled for Pacific Days
(field races, eating contests, monitoring the large inflatable rides, etc.).
·
Donations – We have some big things planned for this year’s Pacific Days
event and are in need of donations in order to carry out our plans. Perhaps
you would like to make a donation of money, services, and/or merchandise
that can be used for one of our many raffle drawings, or perhaps you would
like to sponsor the big inflated rides we will be having for both big and
little kids, or the band for Saturday night’s dance . Any donations, big or small,
are greatly appreciated.
Terry Home’s Annual
Show ‘n’ Shine Car Show
Terry
Home Inc. is a non-profit facility located here in Pacific and began in
1996. The facility is designed to provide long-term care to young adults
(18-45) who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. Their mission is to
provide purpose, privacy, and independence for each person in a comfortable
home-like atmosphere.
Some of
you may recognize the Terry Home name in association with the ever popular
annual Terry Home’s Annual Show ‘n’ Shine Car Show. This year’s fund-raising
car show is being held on May 18th at the Auburn Eagles Club.
But wait!
Terry Home is also going to be
participating in this year’s Pacific Days
2008 with a Show ‘n’ Shine Car Show II right at the City of Pacific Park on
Saturday, July 12th!
This is a great opportunity for all of you with a fetish for your special
automobile to come participate in the fun and show that car off. Be sure to
pre-register for either event by calling 253-833-7461 or
253-239-5735.
